Nancy Good // Jenny's dresser:

There is a place
that she always would go
to hide her secret treasures
and pray nobody would every know

When she was three
she skinned her knee
and the bandage her mother used
was locked away like a medal from a war

Jenny's dresser knew it all
From her first kiss in the fall
to every paper, every tear
and it's still with her after all these years

Some things you can't hold
like a love that's grown cold
and that's what Jenny learned
and to this day for that love she still yearns

All these priceless things
all her hopes and dreams
came crashing down
though she tried to hold them

She still has that dresser
now it holds only memories
and sometimes when she ventures
she can close her eyes
and see the way things might be
